Now, come the end of the exhibition on Second Life.
The backup of the building is done. And I think it will be back on an OpenSim sim.

EAHP in Second Life

A little machinima build for the Opening Ceremony of the the 14th congress of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists, 25 - 27 March 2009 in Barcelona.

It’s a home made with Fraps and Windows Movie Maker. The sound recording problems  are coming from the SL voice and difficulties to have a good connexion.

The EAHP annual congress will be held from 25th to 27th of March 2009 in Barcelona, Spain.

Entitled “IT and Automation for the Hospitals Pharmacists - tools for better care“,
the congress will address topics that are at the forefront of the daily work of hospital pharmacists in the field of computerization and technology.

It’s now in 10 days.

Before this event, I put the poster of the Second Life EAHP place In World.

Background
One of the recent and most fascinating developments allowed by the ongoing progress in Information and Communication Technology is the explosion of virtual worlds on Internet.
To illustrate the theme of this EAHP congress and give awareness of the possibilities virtual worlds can offer, a place for the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists has been created for the purpose of this congress in one of the most famous virtual worlds: Second Life.

Methods
There is a place in Second Life dedicated to educational projects: the Jokaydian Islands*.This place has been chosen to host the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists, as well as EAHP’s sister associations ASHP, FIP and WHO.
The building tools are those integrated in Second Life’s viewer.

Results
The place for the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists on Jokaydian Islands can be visited at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Jokaydia%20II/24/110/25
EAHP is presented there with its main assets, and EAHP’s sister associations’ features displayed. A gallery provides locations of the best healthcare places in this virtual world.
The virtual meeting space allows conferences and all possibilities for communication. The whole place is highly connected to the Web with e-learning solutions,online calendars and RSS feeds.

Conclusions
The virtual worlds are the new places for information and for communication and exchange of information. They can provide immersive workspaces** which enable people to come together in one place for the purpose of collaboration, exchange of knowledge and collective thinking, as they would do in real life, while reducing non essential travel.
Pharmacists must keep aware of the IT collaborative developments of the Web which will, in the very near future, explode their exchange opportunities and revolutionize their meeting habits.
